Beschreibungen

The concept of nanotechnology is considered modern and offers revolutionary technological opportunities for a wide range of civil and defense applications. The concept of conventional war fare has been changed by the applications of nano materials by redefining aerodynamics, mobility, sensing, power generation and management, smart structures and material, robustness and resilience. With the tailor made ability of possessing desirable properties, nano materials have great advantages in developing lethal and potent weapons. This volume kicks off with the chapter of "Nanotechnology in Defense: from Man, Machine and beyond; that gives a summary of requirement, applications, properties, challenges and covers the present and the futuristic aspects related to defense. Recent development in nanotechnology and its potential defense applications; with its impact on future war fighting strategies has been presented in one of the chapters. Despite being a relatively new technology its faster progress has lead to the development of detectors and sensors based on plasmatic nano particles, thin film solid oxide fuel cells, infrared and low dimensional solid system and optical nano materials for its application in for the sensitive and selective detection of warfare threats for military and home land security. With the massive development of nanotechnology taking place around, it brings to us the stealth technology allowing aerial vehicles to be less visible to radar, infrared(IR), acoustic, visual and other detection methods by developing electromagnetic waves absorbing materials. The volume also focuses on the present status of smart self healing anti corrosion coatings, possible mechanism for aerospace applications and future direction in diagnostics. This volume is expectedly a part of this series for curious to know the scope of nanotechnology in the defense field, with current and future aspects in consideration. This volume provides comprehensive details of nanotechnologies vast applications and development with readership ranging from engineers, scientist, undergraduates and other field professionals.
