Beschreibungen

Greek philosophers built great discussions about reality, which are still current in our times and still inspire today's great thinkers. From mathematical teachings by Pythagoras, encompassing Plato's and Aristotle's ideas, these great discussions have been essential for our present intelectual development. Today, however, this role has been adopted by a new class of visionaries. Brought together by this new Platonic Academy based in Stanford University; devoted to proving and making use of the supremacy of numbers and mathematics in the digital world; intent on finding the new Holy Grail embodied in the perfect algorithm, present time's entrepreneurs of new technologies have radically transformed, for good or otherwise, the world as we know it.
Ulrich Richter Morales delves deep into the legacy – sometimes clear, sometimes mystical and esoteric – of the Pythagoreans in their diverse historical incarnations. He particularly emphasizes their dominant role in these digital times, while he introduces a debate regarding the sort of machines we ought to develop. Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, among others, are declared heirs of the Mathematician from Samos and, always engrossed in polemic discussions, they are inseparable from our concept of how the world works. Getting to know them as persons and as thinkers is a way to better understand modern day life and our role as citizens, in the unstable, volatile grounds we tread on today.
Ulrich Richter Morales is an Attorney at Law, graduated from the University Escuela Libre de Derecho (Law School), Master in Criminal Sciences by the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Penales Inacipe, (National Institute of Criminal Sciences) and is completing his doctorate in Criminal Sciences and Criminal Politics by Investigation in the cited Institute. In 2019 Mr. Richter was awarded an Honoris Causa Doctorate by the Claustro Nacional de Doctores, A.C. (National Faculty of Doctors, Civil Association). His professional practice has developed along two main trends, the first as a litigating attorney and the second as an activist citizen. He practices law in criminal, civil and injunction matters. Among other cases he has promoted, the injunction trial established for the leisure use of marihuana stands out. He also took on technological giant Google at Mexican courts of justice, and in both cases, he achieved a victory which set a precedent in Mexican law. In terms of citizen participation, he was an Advisor for Citizen Participation of the Attorney General's Office (2006-2011), and a Secretary of this Agency from 2008 to June 2011. Ulrich is also founder and president of civil association "Ser Mexicano Es, A.C." (Being a Mexican Means….). He is the author of the following books, Manual del Poder Ciudadano (Handbook of Citizen Power), Lo que México Necesita (What Mexico Needs), De la Protesta a la Participación Ciudadana (From Protest to Citizen Participation), El Ciudadano, el Enemigo y el Estado (The Citizen, the Enemy and the State), El Ciudadano Digital (The Digital Citizen) and El Ciudadano Republicano y la Cuarta Transformación (The Republican Citizen and The Fourth Transformation), as well as coauthor of Voices of Our Democracy; about the 2012 Presidential Succession. He is also a collaborator of the El Universal Newspaper.
